Arlene Sun
Mixed-Media Artist
Hi, I'm Arlene, my practice is an ongoing search for connection between feeling and form, between human and system, between now and next.
About
Arlene Sun is a Mixed-media artist based in New York. She is the founder of C.L.A.P. US (Creative Lab for Async Parallel) and serves as Overseas Project Director at Feiyangluo Digital Interactive Public Art Institution. Sun holds an MFA in Design and Technology and a BFA in Film and Animation from Parsons School of Design. Her practice spans installation art, interactive design, and painting, deeply influenced by psychology, science, and philosophy.
Arlene Sun’s artistic practice unfolds across three interconnected yet distinct dimensions each a unique exploration of emotion, technology, and narrative. Through IP based therapeutic art, interactive physical installations, and AIGC driven visual storytelling, she creates immersive worlds that reflect on inner life, embodied experience, and digital futures.
In the MOOD Art Healing Series, she builds an expansive IP ecosystem that transforms abstract emotions into tangible visual characters and soothing environments. More than aesthetic expression, this series acts as a gentle intervention using color, form, and interaction to guide viewers toward self-awareness, acceptance, and emotional repair, turning art into a quiet space for inner dialogue.
With GOOD AS GOLD Interactive Art Installation, Arlene shifts toward a poetic inquiry into materiality and perception. Using “gold” as a metaphor, she examines the fluidity of value, memory, and time within technological contexts. The viewer’s movement, touch, or voice often activates the work, generating real time feedback of light, shadow, or data co-creating a contemporary ritual of permanence and ephemerality.
Her newest venture, Electric Jungle AIGC Visual Narrative, embraces the creative potential of artificial intelligence. Here, she cultivates a dense, hybrid ecosystem where the digital and the organic intertwine. Beyond stylistic experimentation, this series reimagines storytelling itself collaborating with algorithms to dissolve linear plots and generate new mythologies rich with metaphor and open ended meaning.
ELECTRIC JUNGLE
ELECTRIC JUNGLE is a visual narrative created using AI as the primary medium, telling the story of the year 2287, when a mysterious pink energy wave known as the “Prismatic Pulse” erupted from the depths of the cosmos. Upon reaching Earth, it underwent an unknown fusion with the nanoscale symbiotes released due to severe planetary pollution, giving rise to a continuously expanding biomechanical ecosystem.
MOOD
The MOOD series based on art healing. Under this theme, the works encompass graffiti, video, interactive installations, improvisational painting, and workshops, aiming to transform abstract emotions into perceptible physical events.
GOOD AS GOLD
The theme GOOD AS GOLD, Arlene Sun presents a series of interactive art installations situated in physical space, shifting her creative focus toward an exploration of materiality and perception. Using "gold" as a metaphor, she examines the fluidity of value, memory, and time within technological contexts.
